Hi all, Bryan the owner here. As many of you are aware, we offer a Subscription Service as a way for you to stay current with routine releases without having to preorder every time. It’s perfect for games that have a constant release schedule, such as living card games, miniatures games, or roleplaying games that produce on a regular basis. In addition to the added customer service, it also helps us ensure that our inventory levels for popular and routinely-produced items are following relative demand.

However, over the years games will stop or radically change how they are produced, or the relative demand for a game shifts over time. As such, our list of subscriptions is becoming a bit clogged with games that are, frankly, interfering with newer or more routine release schedules. A good example is the Firefly Board Game. While still an excellent game with a strong following, the release schedule has dropped off significantly, to the point where a new release is no longer something we would call “routine.” Also, we have found that most of the fans of a particular game line already know about these releases, and are even preordering them anyway (often because they forgot they had a subscription).

And sometimes, a line is just too confusing to efficiently maintain. A good example is Shadespire, where some customers want new factions, but not new dice. Or they want sleeves, but not boards. For a game line like that, there is so much variance that there is no “common” type of release.

As a result, we are going to be paring down our lists, and removing some games from the subscription pool. We will be creating a list of “subscribe-able” games and posting that to our web site. That will make our subscription service more efficient, and easier for customers to be aware of. You may be contacted either by phone or email that a game you had on subscription is affected by this editing. While I don’t think this will be an issue in most cases, please let us know if this is a significant inconvenience – we will do what we can to take care of you.

I also want to reiterate that removing a game from the subscription lists is not an indication of our devotion or love for that game! For example, we are big fans of Ticket to Ride, but one release a year does not a subscription warrant. 🙂

Here is a preliminary list of the games we will be keeping on the subscription lists. It will very likely change in the short-term as we begin our editing process, and will certainly change in the long-term due to the reasons mentioned above and as new games are released.
