Since its inception a little over 4 years ago, the Used Games program has been one of our most popular services at both locations. With the help of all our amazing sellers, we’ve processed almost 13 thousand items, with “new” items coming in and going out almost every single day, and lots of store credit being issued. We’ve always looked at our program as a win-win-win, one that provides a continuous supply of cool items for the buyers, a worthwhile reward for the sellers, and easy processing for the staff. It’s so popular that several game stores around the country have adopted similar programs based on our framework.
But, over the years the cost to process and administer the program has gradually increased, especially added costs to the materials we use to wrap the games for resale. So, after a lot of consideration, we are going to slightly adjust the store credit we issue to sellers, from 80% of the asking price to 70%. We understand that this is not desirable news, but we hope that our fantastic sellers understand the reasons and agree that our store credit program is still quite generous.
Here are the particulars:
- The new 70% of asking price in store credit amount issued will apply to used items submitted on or after March 1, 2020.
- Items submitted on or before February 29, 2020, will still be issued 80% of asking price in store credit, once sold.
- Items currently in our system will still be issued 80% of asking price in store credit, once sold,m even if the item sells after March 1, 2020.
We understand the information above will likely cause a rapid influx of Used Game submissions, but also a possible desire for sellers to adjust or audit their currently-available used items, which can cause a lot of additional staff time. Because of this, all sellers are instead permitted to submit up to five additional used items before March 1, regardless of the number of items they currently have in the system. So, if you currently have zero through five items in our program, you can bring in up to another five items. Yes, that is per location. This offer ends on March 1.
As you can imagine, the offer above will likely greatly increase the number of used games we receive over the next couple of weeks. We will process them as quickly as possible, but don’t be surprised if your submission is not on the shelves right away.
Thank you so much for helping create such a dynamic and popular program, and please let us know if you have any questions or comments!
