Magic the Gathering Sealed Product Pricing Policies

Magic is one of the most popular games in the world, and market pricing for various Magic products can vary wildly, especially at stores where Magic is the primary revenue stream for the organization. At I’m Board, we have made it our goal to offer consistent pricing methodology as much as possible, and are now documenting those schemes into official policies. See below for these new policies, which should cover most Magic the Gathering product categories. Please note, however, that this list is not exhaustive, and exceptions can occur. Changes to these policies are at the discretion of the management.

Individual sealed product will be sold at MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price)

This pertains to all individually-sold products, such as standard block Booster Packs, Modern Masters Booster Packs, Bundles, Planeswalker Packs, Deckbuilder Toolkits, Duel Decks, Commander Decks, From the Vault, Anthologies, and other seasonal products. The bulk of Magic product will fall under this category.

We will not sell products at prices higher than MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price)

We view this as our balancing point. We won’t always have the cheapest prices, but we also won’t increase prices beyond MSRP.

Typical “merchandiser” containers will be regularly sold at 20% off

This pertains to items such as sealed booster boxes (standard block and specialty booster sets such as Modern Masters and Conspiracy) and complete sets of all five Commander Decks. This pricing extends to preordered standard-block booster boxes.

Standard-block products (that are not booster boxes) may be preordered at 10% off

Standard-block Bundles, Planeswalker Decks, and Deckbuilder Toolkits that are preordered will enjoy our standard preorder discount.

No other Magic products will receive a preorder discount, but prices will also not be higher than MSRP

Dual Decks, Commander Decks, From the Vault, Anthologies, and other one-shot and seasonal products will not be offered a preorder discount. They will be offered and sold at MSRP (see above).

Event Prize Packs may be exchanged for store credit.

Booster packs issued at Magic events (such as weekly Standard events, Prereleases, and PPTQs) may be exchanged for store credit at the discretion of the player. The following chart details the various exchange rates:

– Each pack with an MSRP of $3.99 may be exchanged for $2.50 in store credit.
– Each pack with an MSRP of $7.99 may be exchanged for $4.00 in store credit.
– Each pack with an MSRP of $9.99 may be exchanged for $6.50 in store credit.
